Dedicated Hosting Explanation

When we talk about hosting web servers, there are 3 principal types - web hosting servers, VPS (virtual private web servers) and dedicated hosting. Shared hosting web servers host numerous clients and so the resources per web hosting account are limited, VPS hosting offer more server configuration independence, but also affect other private virtual servers on the hardware node if utilized heedlessly, and dedicated hosting servers give you the liberty to perform everything you see fit without meddling with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated hosting servers?

Dedicated hosting servers are usually much more expensive than shared hosting web servers or VPS web hosting servers. Why would anyone, then, use them? The answer is rather simple. If your firm has a heavy resource-swallowing website, or simply has very specific server architecture requirements, the smartest choice is a dedicated hosting servers. For somebody who is willing to invest in security and stability, the higher price is not a concern. You get complete root access and can use 100 percent of the hosting web server's resources without anyone else sharing these system resources and intervening with your web pages.

Hardware specifications

Most web hosting suppliers, incl. us at Sreda s.r.o., provide different hardware architectures you can choose from in consonance with your requirements. The hardware architectures include different kinds of processors, a different amount of cores, different RAM memory and hard disk sizes and different monthly bandwidth allowances. You can select a hosting Control Panel, which is a convenient graphical user interface if you would like to use the dedicated hosting servers for hosting purposes solely and choose not to resort to a Secure Shell console for all the changes you will be making. We provide three kinds of hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The Control Panel of your choice

If you are a self-confident Linux OS user (our dedicated hosting web servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could manage your dedicated hosting servers via a Secure Shell connection exclusively. That, though, could be inconvenient, even more so if you decide to grant full root access to someone else who has less technical skills than yourself. That is why having hosting Control Panel software installed is a smart idea. The Hepsia web hosting CP software that we offer does not give you full root access and is chiefly appropriate for somebody who runs a lot of sites that devour lots of system resources, but wishes to administer the web sites, databases and email addresses using an easy-to-use hosting Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel Control Panels, on the other hand, grant full server root access and offer 3 levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell web hosting accounts rather than using the dedicated hosting servers only for yourself, you should pick one of these two.

Server monitoring and backup procedures

Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated hosting servers and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your web server, such as an unresponsive Apache or a network outage, it is advisable to have some sort of monitoring system activated. Here at Sreda s.r.o. the system administrators monitor all dedicated hosting servers for ping timeouts, and, if you order a Managed Services upgrade, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated hosting servers as well. Backups are also an additional feature - the hosting services provider offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would allow you to save the same data on 2 server hard disks as a protective measure in case of a server hard disk drive failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted access deletes something by mistake.
